I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as you start to get your Christmas and New Year's plans in order, I must tell you that your favorite big-box retailer Costco will be closed this year on Saturday, December 25 and Saturday, January 1.
Although this news shouldn't come as a surprise to any longtime Costco devotee, the stores historically are closed on these days every year. In fact, it's just one of the handful of days that Costco actually does close for annually. The other holidays you can expect closures on are Thanksgiving, Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the Fourth of July.
If you're one of those people who waits until the very last minute to get everything you need for your dinner and dessert, rest assured, the holiday will not affect store hours on the days leading up to Thanksgiving. For those who tend to do their food or gift shopping ahead of the holiday, you can count on Costco warehouses to be open that entire week. It's always a safe bet to call your closest store and see what their hours are, because they could potentially vary by location and might be limited due to the upcoming holiday—plus, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there could be fluctuations in your local store's hours regardless like hours reserved for the elderly or first responders.
In the meantime, start dreaming up your ideal menus. Costco always has a huge selection of baked goods like huge brownie platters, massive pies, and pre-made side dishes. Consider this your reminder to try not to procrastinate this year and start planning that holiday menu ASAP.
